Bras

Attention girls, the first tip on how to look good in lingerie is to always wear the right size bra. Not many of us wear a bra that fits properly; the wrong bra can make you look chubby, showing your love handles and giving you an uncool double breast figure. The correct bra will lift your boobs and give your waist a nice definition.

The next tip is to wear lingerie that is lighter or the same colour as the clothes you are wearing, so it does not show through your clothes. If you decide to show off your bra straps wear a pretty bra and it should be fine.

Another thing to remember is to avoid bras with thin back straps, unless you have a very lean body, as it can show any back bulges under your clothes.

Ladies with small boobs can wear bras fitted with ‘chicken fillet padding’ and a draw-string front if you would like to fill out your top.

Ladies with large breasts can lift their boobs by using a balcony style bra, making the chest look great.

Knickers

Always check the VPL (Visible Panty Line) and try to avoid all knickers that show through your clothes.

When wearing light colour clothes or a garment that is hazily see-through it is best to wear natural colour underwear. In the case of a see-through skirt that is not figure-hugging, also go for flesh-coloured knickers instead of a G-string.

If you have lots of cellulite on your bum, try not to wear G-strings at all if you are wearing thin fabric clothes.

This table will help you find your perfect bra size:

To check your bra size, you need only take two measurements which are –

1. Underbust Measurement
Measure under your bust:
add 4ins. if the measurement obtained is an even number of inches
add 5ins. if the measurement obtained is an odd number of inches.

(For example, if your underbust measurement is 31ins., add 5ins. to obtain bra size 36, or, if your underbust measurement is 30ins. add 4ins. to obtain bra size 34.)

2. Overbust Measurement
Measure round the fullest part of your bust to determine Cup size.
If the bust measurement: is:
same as your bra size, your Cup size is A.
1in. more gives Cup size B
2in. more gives Cup size C
3in. more gives Cup size D
4in. more gives Cup size DD
5in. more gives Cup size E
and so on through F, FF and G

An example:
Underbust measurement of
29in. + 5in. = bra size 34
Overbust measurement of
34in. = Cup A

So the correct fitting would be 34A

How to Correct the fitting for your bra:

If bra rides up at back . . . adjust hook and eye closure to tighten, loosen straps or try a smaller band size.
If band digs in . . . order one band size larger or opt for a bra with a wider band.
If sides bulge . . . order one band size larger or choose a style that has more cup coverage.
If cups overflow . . . order one cup size larger or one band size larger.
If shoulders are sore . . . loosen bra or opt for a bra with wider, or padded straps.
If bustline sags . . . shorten straps, avoid stretchy fabrics or choose a firmer support style with rigid straps.
If underwires pinch or poke . . . order one cup size larger or try a non-underwire soft cup style.
If straps slip . . . tighten straps or opt for bra with wider straps.

  • The loincloth, worn thousands of years ago is likely to be the first undergarment worn by humans and it evolved into the thong over the years. Ironically, it was first worn by men in ancient times before it evolved into part of women’s lingerie in modern times. The Egyptians were one of the earliest people to wear this thong-like clothing. The earliest loincloths were made of leather and this was used until the introduction of fabric much later on. The famous King Tutankhamun was found buried with more than a hundred loincloths in his tomb.

Some people in ancient Greece, Rome and Japan also wore loincloths. In Japan, sumo wrestlers in particular are known to wear a loincloth when they are wrestling. In fact, right up to this very day, they still wear this.

In the middle ages, the loincloth was replaced by a large, loose outfit called ’braies’. This was usually made from linen and is much bigger than the loincloth. The braies is made with a covering at the front that could be buttoned or tied closed.

In modern times, historians trace the thong’s first public appearance to 1939 when New York Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia directed that the city’s nude exotic dancers to dress more appropriately.

Fashion designer, Rudi Gernreich was credited with introducing the first modern thong back in 1974. The thong was worn for many years by exotic Brazilian dancers and was very widely worn during the festivals. These tight, tiny thongs grew in popularity during the 80s in South America and were used as swimwear at the beaches. Its popularity and influence spread to various parts of the world in the late 90s.

In the US, the sexy thong only gained wide acceptance in the 90s when exotic lingerie came into the mainstream. Today, the thong is one of the best selling styles of undergarment in the world. The size of the lingerie industry is said to be over US$2 billion a year.

The thong became so popular that there were even songs written about it. The most famous one was of course ‘The Thong Song’ by Sisqo under the Def Soul label. The Thong Song from Sisqo’s debut album ‘Unleash The Dragon’ was such a big hit that it reached number 3 on the US pop charts and sold over 4 million copies worldwide.

Besides the sexy thong, there are also many different types and variants of exotic lingerie available in the market today. Some of the different types of lingerie available include the chemise, camisole, boy shorts, bustiers, corsets, teddy and G-string.

Many designers today have come up with very flamboyant and creative designs and the thongs today are very different from the designs of yesteryears. It is extremely minimalist, erotic and chic. Many women prefer the thong to other types of lingerie because they can wear tight pants without showing the panty line. Besides being extremely sexy, the thong is also comfortable to wear.
